Cystic acne from mac makeup

You can definitely get great coverage with mineral makeup too. Like all makeup, it varies a lot by brand, and application can be key to getting the best results. Not all mineral makeup is created equal. I got huge cysts from using MAC studio fix. I use most of their products except their foundations. I looked at my bottle of foundation but it doesnt say anything on it other than what its called. Every time I decide to wear my Mac makeup to school and do so for a couple days, I get clogged pores.

I don't know if it's a coincidence The reason i am saying this is because their makeup contains mineral oil which can clog your pores. This will prevent our skin from being able to breath and cause further breakouts. MAC has a lot of colors and choices when it comes to their products but if you really want to get rid of your acne one of the steps is to check the ingredients label on the products you are using.

Mac cosmetics causing severe cystic acne?

Trust me i have been there and done that. I stopped using MAC a long time ago and switched to clinique. I believe that whether a makeup brand is good for your skin or not depends on your own skin. There is no one brand that's good for everybody, it's all a matter of trial and error. I've heard people who complain that Clinique break them out, and I have to say I experienced this too.

I went out one night with Clinique Perfectly Real foundation, and when I washed it off, my pimples look much more red and angry than before, and on top of that I got a few lovely new pimples! Clinique's marketing image is that it's good for the skin, but that's all it is: The products, you'll have to try for yourself, unfortunately.

I have been using MAC Studio Finish concealer for months now and it doesn't aggravate my skin conditions. It depends on the product. Estee Lauder: Double Wear stay in place make-up foundation which i'm gonna go out and buy tomorrow. Everyones skin is different. Ever since I stopped using the clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel, my skin has improved. It apparently has comedogenic ingredients in it. I am acne prone and I have extremely sensitive skin. Is your skin sensitive? If it is I recommend you dont use any products on your face which contain fragrance.

Oh yeah, I'm still puzzled as to what exactly was causing my flareups because I swore up and down that it fragrance, oil, Mica, bismuth, etc How about I've gotten 2 more bumps! I haven't even used my mac minerals only the concealer and Physicians Formula. I have no idea and am tired of trying. It's just really getting out of hand.

I made me an appointment to a dermie. TOo bad she's so booked up I have to wait til April 30th. But in the mean time I've ordered samples from Blac MIneral, Egminerals, and Milan minerals and am looking forward to that. All in all I do still feel the Bismuth and the dimethicone in the MAc had something to do with it.

I dunno. We ladies have so much to contend with. I'm also going to get my hormone levels checked by a regular MD as well. I'm all for self assessing and treatment but sometimes we hafta give into professional advice.

I say go see a dermatologist. I mean 30 pills a day? That's a bit much, don't you think? All the different things you're putting in your body could also be wreaking havoc on it. So I say stop, and see a dermatologist. If you could afford one, see a nutritionist too. Anyone with acne should never used foundation on your face that contains Mica.

Is MAC a good makeup for acne prone skin - Cosmetics & grooming -

It will tear and irritate your acne and make it worse. I used to use minerals with mica on my face and get the major cystic acne too I no longer use it and my skin has cleared up. So Netty what do you use for makeup then? Or since your skin is clear do you no longer have a need for it? Ohhh, ok Thanks I'm going to test and see what the results are if I use No Minerals. I heard dimethicone causes acne too. Do you know if your Mabelline has that in it?

Mineral makeup also caused really bad cystic acne for me, too. I used Bare Minerals for three months and then I started getting really bad embedded acne that would not go away. I went back to using Revlon Colorstay and just a setting powder and everything cleared up. I do use Proactiv during the day, and at night I use Dr. Perricone's nutritive cleanser and it takes my makeup off real good. I think that is one of the problems with the mineral makeup.. I was looking at oil-based cleansers at Nordstrom at the Shu counter and they told me that the oils really do a good job of removing the makeup and do not cause acne.

I ended up switching over to Christian Dior Diorskin Mineral loose powder foundation which I really love and have not broken out at all with.

Good luck with your skin! It took me years to find the right combo of foundation and cleansers, you just gotta experiment. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community. It's easy! Already have an account?

These are unique forms of makeup because they essentially combine skin care and makeup in one so brands usually really take your skin into account when formulating these products. A great one to sample is the Erborian CC Creme , which is actually formulated with centella asiatica, an ancient plant known to calm inflammation, stimulate cell growth, and even boost collagen production. Plus, it has SPF50 protection so you can cover imperfections, heal acne, and protect it all in one easy-to-use product.

This BB cream is meant to provide even coverage while blurring pores and keeping excess oil in check. Cleansing your skin is an essential part of your routine because it will get rid of any acne-causing bacteria, so make sure to double cleanse on a regular basis if you wear makeup a lot.

Follow that up with the Missha Near Skin pH Balancing Cleansing Foam, which is a gentle, sensitive skin-friendly cleansing foam packed with a saponin complex and mineral water that will leave your skin feeling cleansed but also hydrated and supple. Instead, reach for skin friendly BB or CC creams, which are formulated with your skin in mind.

If you experience any reactions, pay attention to what ingredients they contain so that next time you can choose products without those and see if they work for you.
